Valve Steam Frame headsets face surge in scalping and fraudulent auctions

Following Valve's recent emails to customers regarding reservation lists for the new Steam Frame VR headsets, a surge of scalping and fraudulent activity has emerged on auction platforms like eBay.

Speculators are attempting to sell reservation spots and unreceived units at significantly inflated prices. While the official retail prices for the 256 GB model and the 1 TB model are approximately $1,059 and $1,299 respectively, some auction listings for the base model have reached as high as 6,800 PLN (roughly $1,700), with higher-capacity versions exceeding 8,000 PLN.

Reports from UploadVR indicate that many sellers are merely posting screenshots of reservation confirmations rather than physical hardware. In response, the gaming community has begun mobilizing on platforms like Reddit to report these suspicious listings and combat the scalping trend.
