Valve updates SteamOS and introduces Xodus Nexus for Steam Deck

Valve has released SteamOS 3.9, an update for the Steam Deck aimed at improving system stability and connectivity. Key features include optimizations for the desktop environment and reduced power consumption when the device is idle and not playing audio. While the update does not necessarily extend battery life during active gameplay, it enhances the device's utility as a portable computer by refining desktop tools and system components.

Additionally, the open-source project Xodus Nexus has emerged as a way for Steam Deck users to access Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass titles on Linux. This tool allows compatible games to be downloaded and run locally without requiring a Windows installation or relying solely on cloud streaming. Although support for the Steam Deck is currently considered experimental, the software can be installed via an AppImage in desktop mode without modifying system partitions.
