Valverde resident reported after two registered pistols go missing
An 82-year-old resident of Valverde has been reported to judicial authorities following an investigation by the Carabinieri of the San Gregorio di Catania station regarding missing firearms.
During routine checks to verify the legality of registered weapons, authorities discovered that two previously declared firearms and their ammunition have been missing for over twenty years. The missing items include a 7.65 caliber pistol with 25 cartridges and a .38 caliber revolver with 50 cartridges.
The man stated that he moved houses approximately two decades ago within the Valverde area. He suggested the weapons may have been lost during the move, noting that he had given several pieces of furniture and personal effects to the movers. He believes the pistols and ammunition might have been left inside cabinets that were subsequently given to the moving crew. Authorities are working to verify this hypothesis.
