Valve's Deadlock adds new Ranked mode with full matchmaking overhaul
Valve has launched a new Ranked mode for its Deadlock MOBA, separating the game into Standard and Ranked queues. Standard mode remains a low‑stakes environment with unlimited party size, while Ranked introduces a structured rank system, seasons, calibration matches and stricter entry requirements. Players must earn at least 60 wins in Standard mode and win 15 matches on three different heroes before they can queue for Ranked, which currently supports solo or duo play only.
The update replaces the old rank hierarchy with 11 new ranks, each split into six sub‑ranks, and starts a season that runs until October 7. Calibration consists of eight games, after which the matchmaking system attempts to pair players of similar skill. Valve cautions that the first week may be “very rocky” as the Ranked pool is thin, leading to longer queue times and potentially lower match quality while the system stabilises.
