Valve’s Deadlock hits record 228,000 concurrent players

Valve’s unreleased hero shooter, Deadlock, has reached a new record of 228,086 concurrent players on Steam following the launch of its ‘City Never Sleeps’ update. This surge more than doubles the game’s previous peak of approximately 99,000 players recorded during the ‘Old Gods, New Blood’ update in early 2026.

The major content drop includes a widespread map overhaul, interface improvements, and the addition of six new heroes: Rat King, Baba, Deadman Danny, Nurse Harrow, Violet, and Solomon. The Rat King character, which originated as a community concept, is a central part of this release.

Despite remaining in an invite-only closed beta phase without an official release date, the game has entered Steam’s top ten most-played titles. The update also introduces approximately 10,000 new lines of dialogue and significant visual reinventions for maps and neutral elements.
