Vama vice-mayor transports live 75mm shell on scooter

A vice-mayor in the Vama commune of Satu Mare County, Romania, caused a public safety scare by transporting a live 75mm shell on a scooter. The projectile was discovered by construction workers at a sidewalk rehabilitation site among mineral materials taken from the Someș River.

Initially mistaken for a piece of scrap iron, the object was identified as unexploded ordnance by the site manager, who contacted the vice-mayor. The official then carried the shell under his arm while riding his scooter through the commune to deliver it to a local police station.

Upon arrival, police officers were shocked by the discovery and instructed the official to move the object to an isolated area. Pyrotechnicians from ISU ‘Someș’ Satu Mare were summoned to secure the live ammunition. The shell was subsequently transported to a specialized depot in Carei for neutralization. No injuries were reported during the incident.
