Van AFAD teams undergo intensive INSARAG accreditation exam

AFAD search and rescue teams in Van are undergoing a continuous, intensive accreditation examination based on INSARAG standards, known as IRNAP/ITUAS. The operation, which has exceeded 30 hours, tests the teams' ability to maintain technical skills, coordination, and endurance during long-term disaster response scenarios.

The assessment covers a wide range of capabilities, including personnel competence, operational planning, logistics, communication, and security. Teams are practicing technical interventions such as the controlled cutting of metal structures, structural shoring at debris sites, and high-angle rescue maneuvers involving victim access and safe evacuation.

A Base of Operations (BOO) has been established to manage the logistics, equipment control, and command of the exercise. The process aims to elevate the disaster response capacity of the provincial directorate to meet both national and international standards.
