Van and Konya to undergo three-day power outages for grid upgrades

Major energy infrastructure modernization projects in Van and Konya, Turkey, will result in planned electricity outages starting September 21. The works are intended to strengthen the energy grid, increase transmission efficiency, and prevent chronic failures before the winter season.

In Van, the three-day maintenance period aims to bring the city's energy network up to modern standards. In the Edremit district, specifically within the Köprüler neighborhood, work will involve replacing aging lines with high-capacity conductors and inspecting power transformers.

In Konya, Meram Elektrik Dağıtım Şirketi will conduct comprehensive updates to transformers and line renewals. The outages will affect high-population central districts including Selçuklu, Meram, and Karatay, as well as surrounding districts such as Ereğli, Akşehir, Beyşehir, and Cihanbeyli. These technical operations are designed to ensure long-term energy supply security and prevent system collapses during adverse weather conditions.
