Van begins construction of BAHAR addiction rehabilitation center

Construction has begun on the Rehabilitation Center for Addicted Patients (BAHAR Center) in the Edremit district of Van, Turkey. The facility aims to support the social reintegration of individuals who have completed detoxification treatments at existing centers such as AMATEM and ÇEMATEM.

Coordinated by the Van Governor's Office and supported by the Metropolitan Municipality, the center will feature a 4,000-square-meter indoor area with a 40-bed capacity. The program is designed to prevent relapse by strengthening social and family ties and supporting adaptation to community life.

Services at the center will include individual and family counseling, group work, psychoeducation, social skills training, sports, socio-cultural activities, and handicrafts. Provincial Health Director Muhammed Tosun noted that while medical and psychological treatments are provided at existing facilities, the BAHAR Center addresses the challenge of patients returning to old environments after discharge, which can lower overall success rates.
