Van de Weerd reports successful organic pumpkin harvest

The organic pumpkin harvest at the Van de Weerd company in Lelystad has concluded with positive results. Dennis van de Weerd reported that despite varying yields across different regions due to drought, the overall harvest and quality remain high.

The company manages approximately 150 hectares of pumpkins alongside other crops and processes produce from other organic growers. While demand for pumpkins is increasing, particularly for Halloween, export growth has stabilized. This is attributed to increased local cultivation in key export markets such as Germany.

Van de Weerd primarily focuses on the retail channel, with orange pumpkins being the most requested variety. The company plans to supply Dutch retailers through the autumn and will transition to imported pumpkins after March.
