Van: Fake bungalow reservation scams reported in Gevaş

Fraudsters are using stolen photos of bungalow and holiday facilities in the Gevaş district of Van to post fake reservation advertisements on social media.

A resident from Batman reported losing 7,000 TL after making a pre-payment for a reservation through a fraudulent social media advertisement. Following the payment, the individual was unable to contact the providers.

Authorities advise travelers to verify the official registration of businesses with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism or TÜRSAB before booking. Recommendations include making payments to official business accounts rather than personal ones and verifying facility locations through map services and official communication channels.
