Van fire blocks Treviso South toll, overturn halts Pedemontana tunnel
On 5 August, a van suddenly caught fire near the entrance of the Treviso South toll booth in the municipality of Silea, Italy. Seven fire‑fighters arrived, extinguished the blaze and secured the vehicle. Traffic on both sides of the toll was stopped for about an hour and a half. No injuries were reported.
Later the same day, a van overturned onto its side inside the Pedemontana A36 tunnel near Gorla Maggiore. Two men, aged 58 and 59, were involved; the driver received first‑aid from emergency personnel. The incident was classified as a green‑code emergency. The tunnel was closed briefly, then reopened with one lane operating, causing delays and queues. No serious injuries were reported.
