Van launches direct flights from Tehran to boost tourism

Direct flight services between Tehran and Van have officially commenced, marking a significant development for the regional economy and international connectivity. The first flight, operated by a private Iranian airline, landed at Van Ferit Melen Airport carrying approximately 80 passengers. The service is scheduled to operate every Tuesday and Friday, covering routes between Tehran, Van, and Tabriz.

Necdet Takva, President of the Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that the new flights represent a major milestone in establishing Van as an international hub and strengthening ties with neighboring markets. The initiative aims to boost tourism, with local officials setting a target of 1 million Iranian tourists, following a period where 777,000 visitors entered the province via the Kapıköy Border Gate by land.

The influx of Iranian visitors is already driving commercial activity across Van, providing a boost to the hospitality, retail, and dining sectors. Local businesses, including hotels and clothing stores, report increased demand as tourism continues to grow.
