Van life trends highlight specialized RV parks and DIY vehicle modifications
The growing popularity of car camping and van life has increased interest in specialized facilities and vehicle modifications.
In Yamaguchi Prefecture, the ‘RV Park x Shiokatsu HARBOR’ offers a dedicated space for travelers seeking safety and comfort. Certified by the Japan RV Association, these RV Parks provide essential amenities such as 24-hour clean toilets, power supply, and waste disposal. The Shiokatsu HARBOR location specifically features a barrel sauna and views of the Seto Inland Sea, providing a secure alternative to parking in unauthorized areas.
On the technical side, enthusiasts are utilizing DIY methods to optimize vehicle interiors. One approach involves constructing a modular bed system for vehicles like the Nissan Caravan. By using a combination of timber and aluminum alloy frames, travelers can create a three-section bed that measures approximately 187cm by 150cm. This design allows the space to transform from a comfortable sleeping area for two adults into a dinette for dining or working, while maintaining storage space and interior mobility.
