Van OSB President supports Erciş becoming a province

Memet Aslan, Chairman of the Van Organized Industrial Zone (Van OSB), has expressed full support for the “100 Provinces, 1000 Districts” project proposed by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli. Aslan specifically highlighted Erciş as one of the 19 districts identified for potential provincial status.

Aslan argued that Erciş has earned provincial status due to its population exceeding 170,000, its advanced urbanization, and its significant industrial and agricultural potential. He noted that the district already functions as a regional center for its surrounding areas.

Furthermore, Aslan emphasized the strategic importance of Erciş in regional logistics and transportation. He mentioned that the Van OSB and Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Van TSO) have advocated for continuous railway lines to pass through the Erciş route to support regional trade and supply chains. He stated that granting Erciş provincial status would bring public services closer to citizens and simplify bureaucratic processes.
