Van regional development focuses on architecture and water infrastructure
In Van, Turkey, local leaders are addressing urban development and infrastructure needs. Orhan Özdek, President of the Van Real Estate Agents and Experts Association, has called for the adoption of horizontal architecture around Lake Van. He emphasized that preserving the lake's natural silhouette and blue waters is vital for the region's tourism potential, particularly as interest in villas and summer residences grows in the Edremit and Tuşba districts.
Simultaneously, efforts are underway to improve the city's drinking water infrastructure. Erdem Güngör, President of the Kırk Değirmenler and Şamran Canal Protection and Preservation Association, expressed support for VASKİ's work to repair an old drinking water line composed of fragile asbestos-cement pipes. Güngör noted that the existing infrastructure is no longer sustainable and urged authorities to implement holistic, long-term planning to ensure water security for the city.
