Turkey reports strong September 2026 export figures

Turkey reported significant export activity for the first nine months of 2026. According to the Türkiye Exporters’ Assembly (TİM), defense and aerospace industry exports rose 15.6 percent year-on-year to $6.93 billion during this period. In September alone, this sector contributed $634.1 million to the total. The automotive industry remained the nation's leading export sector in September, generating $3.94 billion.

Regional data shows varied performance. The Uludağ Exporters' Associations (UİB) recorded $4.123 billion in exports for September, bringing its nine-month total to $32.777 billion. AKIB reported $1.38 billion in September exports, with a nine-month total of $13.81 billion, noting that Iraq was the top destination at $1.1 billion. In Erzurum, exports for the January-September period reached $34.528 million, a 28.02 percent increase from the previous year.

Trade with neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Greece, totaled $20.931 billion for the first nine months, representing a 3.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Iraq was the largest neighbor for exports, accounting for approximately $6.7 billion.
