Van resident quits 25-year smoking addiction following children's pleas

Yunus Sunkur, a 39-year-old father of two living in Van, has successfully ended a 25-year smoking addiction. After years of consuming more than two packs of cigarettes daily, Sunkur suffered from symptoms including shortness of breath, coughing, chest pain, and irregular sleep patterns.

Sunkur decided to quit after being motivated by his children, who expressed discomfort regarding the smell of smoke and urged him to stop. He sought medical assistance at the smoking cessation clinic within the Healthy Life Center, operated by the İpekyolu District Health Directorate.

Through medication and professional guidance, Sunkur has remained smoke-free for approximately one year. He reports significant improvements in his quality of life, including better sleep, improved taste in food and drink, and increased physical stamina for sports. He now encourages others to seek medical help to overcome addiction.
