Van residents in Bodrum demand direct flights to Van
Residents of Van living in Bodrum are calling for the establishment of direct flight routes between Van and Bodrum to improve travel efficiency. The demand was raised during a meeting organized by the Bodrum Vanlılar Derneği, which included businesspeople, tourism professionals, and civil society representatives.
Participants highlighted that current travel requires transfers through cities like Istanbul or Ankara, causing significant time loss. This logistical challenge is particularly difficult during emergencies, such as illnesses or funerals, where delays can prevent people from reaching family in time.
AK Party Van Deputy Kayhan Türkmenoğlu acknowledged the lack of direct flights as a significant deficiency despite the high traffic at Van Airport. He stated that while new flight planning for the current season is difficult, he intends to consult with airline companies and seek support from the Ministry of Transport to implement direct flights for the upcoming season. AK Party Muğla Deputy Kadem Mete also noted the high passenger potential of the route and pledged to follow the process.
