Van TSO President appeals to Supreme Election Council
Necdet Takva, President of the Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Van TSO), has filed an application with the Supreme Election Council (YSK) regarding the organization's upcoming elections. The legal action follows decisions by local and provincial election boards to exclude 1,565 members from the voter lists.
The dispute centers on members who updated their status and fulfilled their dues by the legal deadline of October 8, 2026. Although the lists were prepared and submitted to the İpekyolu 2nd District Election Board, the board rejected the application based on formal timing issues. After the Van Provincial Election Board also rejected the appeal, the Van TSO management escalated the matter to the Supreme Election Council, citing a “state of complete illegality” and seeking to protect the constitutional right to vote and be elected.
