Van, Turkey wedding features 20 million TL cash and kilograms of gold

A lavish tribal wedding was held in Çaldıran district of Van, Turkey for Serhat Avcı, son of businessman Nihat Avcı, and Esra Yıldırım, daughter of former Çaldıran mayor Ferman Yıldırım. The ceremony attracted thousands of guests from Van and other parts of Turkey.

During the celebration the groom was presented with roughly 20 million Turkish lira in cash, counted on a machine and packed into suitcases, while the bride received kilograms of gold jewelry. More than half a ton of meat was served, local artists performed, and traditional halay dances were held for hours.
