Van vehicle registrations approach 100,000 mark

According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) for August 2026, the number of registered motor vehicles in Van has reached 99,852, placing the city just 148 vehicles away from the 100,000 threshold.

The vehicle composition in Van includes 39,695 automobiles, 25,108 light commercial vehicles, 11,312 motorcycles, and 9,872 tractors. Other registered vehicles include 6,110 minibuses, 6,030 trucks, 867 buses, and 858 special-purpose vehicles.

This increase in vehicle numbers is raising concerns regarding urban management in Van, specifically regarding traffic congestion in central neighborhoods, parking pressure, public transportation efficiency, emergency response times, and pedestrian safety. The data suggests a growing need for improved intersection management and parking planning within the city.
