Van Yüzüncü Yıl University students and CİSAD engage in disaster response training

In Van, Turkey, 700 students from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ) have joined the AFAD Volunteer System to undergo theoretical and practical search and rescue training. The students, some of whom were survivors of the 2011 Van earthquakes and the February 2023 earthquakes, are learning to use specialized equipment and disaster response protocols under the guidance of AFAD personnel.

Simultaneously, the CİSAD Nature Sports Club is advancing its accreditation process for its search and rescue team. Supported by the Hakkâri and Van AFAD provincial directorates, the club is conducting training to enhance its capacity to respond to natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, and avalanches.
