Vancouver Canucks showcase new draftees at Abbotsford development camp

The Vancouver Canucks wrapped up a three‑day development camp in Abbotsford on July 2, 2026 with a three‑on‑three scrimmage at Rogers Forum. Twenty‑five draft picks and prospects participated, including third overall pick Caleb Malhotra – the son of new head coach Manny Malhotra – who scored two goals. First‑round selections Adam Novotný and Braeden Cootes also impressed, with Cootes netting four goals.

In addition to on‑ice drills, players took part in team‑building activities such as white‑water rafting and hiking the Grouse Grind. After the tournament, Malhotra said the week was “a lot of fun meeting a lot of new guys and talking with them about their journeys.”

General manager Ryan Johnson noted the camp’s success but cautioned that work remains, stating, “By no means am I content that we’ve done this and this is enough. I will continue to listen, continue to look at opportunities and options, but we haven’t stopped running and don’t plan on doing that anytime soon.”
