Vancouver culture: Michelin honors for Kavita and upcoming arts events
Vancouver's culinary and arts scene is seeing significant activity following the 2026 Michelin Guide ceremony. The Mount Pleasant Indian restaurant Kavita has earned its first Bib Gourmand distinction, while general manager Yash Shah received the Michelin Guide Service Award.
To celebrate, Kavita is hosting a Cultural Wednesdays dinner series. On October 21, executive chef Tushar Tondvalkar will collaborate with chef Tushar Shroff of Indish for a five-course dinner focused on Rajasthani heritage and Marwari traditions.
In the music scene, composer Mark Mothersbaugh is scheduled to return to Vancouver for the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF). His appearances include a conversation at the Rio on October 7 and a concert of film scores at the Vancouver Playhouse on October 8. Additionally, the UK-based trio Jungle recently performed at the Pacific Coliseum, showcasing their latest album, ‘Sunshine’.
Local infrastructure updates include ongoing discussions regarding the opening of the Broadway subway, which is projected to open next year.
