Vancouver Goldeneyes appoint Cara Gardner Morey as head coach

The Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) franchise Vancouver Goldeneyes announced that general manager Cara Gardner Morey will become the team's head coach. Morey, who led the organization through its inaugural 2025‑26 season, said she missed being behind the bench and is eager to return to coaching. The club will now begin a search for a new general manager.

Morey brings extensive coaching experience, having led Princeton University's women's hockey program to an Ivy League title and its first ECAC championship, and serving as a development coach for the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers. She has also coached at various levels for Team Canada. Former head coach Brian Idalski, dismissed on June 1, was hired by Syracuse University.

The move positions Morey to guide the Goldeneyes as they prepare for the upcoming season, with the organization emphasizing continuity and the opportunity to build on the roster assembled during the inaugural campaign.
