Vancouver man arrested for convenience store shooting
A 32-year-old man, identified by police as Victor Sorensen-Avila, has been arrested and charged following a shooting at a Vancouver convenience store. The incident occurred on September 6 at a store located near Main Street and 16th Avenue in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood.
Surveillance footage shows a clerk sitting behind the counter engaging in a conversation with a man in the doorway before the suspect appears to shoot the clerk. While the firearm was not visible in the video, a muzzle flash was observed. The clerk sustained serious injuries during the encounter, which police have characterized as a robbery. Sorensen-Avila faces charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
