Vancouver police investigate separate shooting and road rage incidents
Authorities in Vancouver are investigating two distinct violent incidents involving weapons.
In one case, Jesus Garcia, a 22-year-old identified as a documented gang member, was arrested in Yakima for the attempted murder of a restaurant employee. The shooting occurred on September 4 at a Hawaiian restaurant on NE Fourth Plain Boulevard after a dispute over a food order. The victim, who was shot in the back, is expected to recover. Garcia is awaiting extradition to Clark County.
In a separate incident in South Vancouver, 45-year-old Rahat Arshad Ali was arrested following an alleged armed road rage encounter. A driver reported that a man tailgated her and pointed what appeared to be a handgun at her window. Following a pursuit by the Vancouver Police Department Emergency Response Team, officers recovered a BB gun discarded by the suspect. Ali has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
