Vancouver Police investigate two violent assaults in Downtown Eastside
The Vancouver Police Department is investigating two separate violent incidents that occurred in the Downtown Eastside over a recent weekend.
On Friday, October 2, a female tourist was pushed from behind into traffic near Carrall Street and East Pender Street. The suspect, described as an Indigenous woman aged 40 to 50, approximately 5-foot-8 with a medium build, sunken cheeks, and lip piercings, fled the scene. The victim was not injured.
On Sunday, October 4, at approximately 11:40 p.m., a man was stabbed multiple times in the neck near Main Street and East Hastings Street. His injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening. The suspect, described as a White man aged 30 to 40, approximately 6 feet tall with a stocky build and a bald head, remains at large. He was reportedly wearing an orange shirt and tan pants.
Police are appealing for video evidence or dash-cam footage to assist in the investigation, noting that witnesses in the area are often reluctant to come forward.
