Vancouver Whitecaps beat LA Galaxy 3-0 as Ryan Gauld hits 50 goals

The Vancouver Whitecaps defeated the LA Galaxy 3-0 on Wednesday night, led by a historic performance from Ryan Gauld. Gauld became the first player in the club’s MLS era to reach both 50 goals and 50 assists.

Brian White opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a volley following a forward pass from Thomas Müller. Gauld doubled the lead in the 57th minute after dribbling through the defense. Bruno Caicedo added a third goal in the 89th minute via a penalty kick.

During the match, Thomas Müller left the game in the 26th minute due to an injury. While initial reports suggest it may be a minor issue, the midfielder will be re-evaluated in the coming days. Goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka secured his 10th or 11th clean sheet of the season during the victory, keeping Vancouver at the top of the Western Conference.
