Vancouver’s Breka Bakery proposes 30‑storey hotel with 324 rooms

The owners of Vancouver’s Breka Bakery & Cafe chain have submitted a rezoning application for a mixed‑use tower at 8555 Cambie Street. The 119‑metre, 30‑storey building would contain 324 hotel rooms atop a four‑storey podium that houses an industrial bakery on the ground floor and a street‑level Breka café.

Project developer Daisen Gee‑Wing says the plan meets the City of Vancouver’s Marine Landing policy and a council directive to add visitor accommodation outside downtown. A hotel brand partner has been secured but not yet disclosed. The development includes photovoltaic panels on the south façade and public‑realm improvements such as widened sidewalks. Rezoning approval is not expected until late 2026 or early 2027, after the upcoming municipal elections.
