Vandalism incidents reported in Oria and Palermo
Multiple acts of vandalism have been reported in different Italian locations. In Oria, at the San Domenico church, unknown individuals detonated firecrackers inside the building during an evening Mass. The parish priest, Don Ivan Cavaliere, reported that the explosions occurred during the reading of the Gospel, causing smoke and gunpowder odors that made the air difficult to breathe for the congregation. The priest expressed concern regarding the safety of the community and the general state of insecurity in the surrounding Piazza Lorch.
In Palermo, the Giovanni Falcone comprehensive institute in the Zen district experienced a new wave of vandalism. Perpetrators broke four windows and damaged an external shelter at the kindergarten. Local official Ferdinando Cusimano described the incident as an attack on state institutions, noting that the school has a long history of incursions, thefts, and property damage, including previous incidents involving the decapitation of a statue of Giovanni Falcone.
