Cuiabá municipal schools undergo repairs following vandalism
The Cuiabá Municipal Secretariat of Education has initiated emergency structural interventions at the Emeb Dejani Ribeiro Campos school in the Dr. Fábio II neighborhood. These works include replacing old roofing with isothermal tiles, updating ceilings, and improving window structures. A more extensive renovation is planned following the end of the school year.
The interventions follow an incident of vandalism on Monday morning, where intruders entered the school through windows, ransacking classrooms and a multifunctional reading space. While a microscope was moved but later recovered, no thefts were confirmed. In response, the city announced the installation of video monitoring cameras and the provision of in-person security guards during nights and weekends to protect the facility, which serves 480 children.
These measures are part of a broader municipal effort to improve educational infrastructure. The city has reported investments exceeding R$ 30 million for school reforms, including electrical and structural repairs across various units in the municipal network.
