Vanderbilt defeats Delaware 35-26 after second-half surge
Vanderbilt defeated the University of Delaware 35-26 at FirstBank Stadium on Saturday. Despite a strong first half from the Blue Hens, the Commodores secured the victory with a dominant second-half performance.
Delaware held a 17-14 halftime lead, marking a rare instance of a CUSA team leading an SEC opponent at the break. Delaware's offensive highlights included 109 rushing yards from Jo Silver and 142 receiving yards from Da'Wain Lofton. Bryson Graves also contributed a touchdown on a blocked punt return.
Vanderbilt responded in the third quarter, led by freshman Jared Curtis, who scored a rushing touchdown to reclaim a 21-17 lead. The Commodores maintained momentum through the remainder of the game to overcome the early deficit.
