Vanderbilt football enters 2026 season with new quarterback competition

Vanderbilt University football enters the 2026 season facing a transition at the quarterback position following the departure of Diego Pavia. Head coach Clark Lea leads a roster that includes returning tight end Eli Stowers and a rebuilt offensive line.

Senior Blaze Berlowitz has emerged as the projected starter after edging out highly-rated freshman Jared Curtis during fall camp. While Berlowitz is expected to lead the offense, the program maintains an ongoing competition, and both Berlowitz and Curtis are anticipated to see playing time in the upcoming matchup against Austin Peay.

The Commodores, who achieved a 10-3 record last season, will host Austin Peay this Saturday. Vanderbilt's offense will also rely on running backs Sedrick Alexander and Makhilyn Young, while the defense is bolstered by the addition of safety Ricardo Jones.
