Vanderbilt names Jared Curtis as starting quarterback for NC State matchup

Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea has announced that true freshman Jared Curtis will make his first career start at quarterback this Saturday against NC State. Curtis, a highly-rated recruit from Nashville Christian, recently appeared off the bench against Delaware, where he completed 14-of-22 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown.

Prior to this decision, senior Blaze Berlowitz had been named the starter following fall camp. The change comes as Vanderbilt looks to maintain its 2-0 start in its final nonconference game of the season.

NC State head coach Dave Doeren described the upcoming matchup in Nashville as a “great test,” noting that Vanderbilt is playing at a high level. The Wolfpack enters the game following a dominant performance against Richmond, where they recorded 734 total yards of offense.
