Vanderlei Luxemburgo's Senate Candidacy Approved by Podemos in Tocantins
The state convention of the Podemos party in Palmas, Tocantins, on Monday formalised the Senate candidacy of former football coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo. Party national president and federal deputy Renata Abreu attended the event, praising Luxemburgo’s leadership experience and stating that Tocantins needs a prepared name to lead.
Luxemburgo said he will use his experience to serve the state, declaring, “I want to be a national voice defending Tocantins in the Senate and work so our state is heard and respected in Brasília.” The ticket lists businessman Jair Corrêa Júnior of Palmas as the first substitute and councilor Daniel Walison of Augustinópolis as the second substitute, both also members of Podemos. The convention also ratified the party’s candidates for the Chamber of Deputies and the State Assembly, approved an electoral propaganda commission, and confirmed the coalition for the 2026 elections.
