Vanelly Zavala Hernández accused of faking death to evade million-peso debt
In Juárez, Nuevo León, residents have accused Vanelly Zavala Hernández of orchestrating a fraud involving a collective savings scheme known as ‘tandas’. Participants claim the organizer owes approximately one million pesos after she stopped making scheduled payments.
Following the accusations on social media, digital obituaries circulated claiming Zavala Hernández had passed away and was being held at Capillas Funerarias La Fe. However, the funeral home issued an urgent statement clarifying that they are not providing any services for the individual and that the information in the circulated notices is incorrect. The establishment stated that an external party created the notices and they have no contact with her family or acquaintances.
While the incident has gained significant traction on Facebook, authorities have not yet confirmed if a formal criminal complaint has been filed regarding the alleged simulation of death or the financial fraud.
