Vanessa Voigt struggles at City Biathlon in Dresden

German biathlete Vanessa Voigt experienced a significant setback during the City Biathlon in Dresden on August 23. Despite high expectations from the home crowd, the 28-year-old struggled with her shooting accuracy throughout the event.

Voigt incurred a total of six penalty rounds during the final race, which consisted of five rounds of 2.3 kilometers each. Her performance included one miss in the prone stage and four misses in the standing stages. Consequently, she finished in ninth place in a field of ten competitors, more than two minutes behind the winner, Tereza Vobornikova of the Czech Republic.

Vobornikova secured a dominant victory by hitting all 20 targets. The podium was completed by Anna Gandler of Austria and Lisa Vittozzi of Italy.
