Vangelis Pavlidis enters contract talks with Benfica amid Premier League interest
Greek striker Vangelis Pavlidis is experiencing a highly productive season with both Benfica and the Greek national team. Following a 0-0 draw against Germany, Pavlidis expressed satisfaction with the team's performance and stated that while the primary goal is securing third place in their group to ensure a favorable position for Euro qualifiers, the team remains open to achieving more.
At the club level, Pavlidis has recorded 14 goals and three assists in 13 appearances for Benfica this season. This form has prompted Benfica to enter positive discussions regarding a contract extension that could keep the 27-year-old at the club until 2031. His current deal runs until 2029 and includes a release clause of €100 million.
His performances have also drawn interest from the English Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa reportedly monitoring the player. Tottenham has reportedly sent scouts to observe him during recent matches in Portugal. Pavlidis has indicated a desire to eventually play in English football, provided any move is mutually agreed upon with Benfica.
