Vangelis Pavlidis signs contract extension with Benfica
Vangelis Pavlidis has signed a contract extension with Benfica, securing his position at the club until the summer of 2029. According to reports from the Portuguese outlet Record, the 27-year-old Greek striker has become the highest-paid player in the Benfica roster following this agreement.
The renewal follows significant interest from other European clubs. Fenerbahçe reportedly made a substantial offer including 50 million euros to Benfica and an annual salary of 8 million euros plus bonuses for Pavlidis, which the player rejected in favor of staying in Lisbon.
Pavlidis has demonstrated high productivity since joining Benfica from AZ Alkmaar in 2024. His statistics include 46 goals and 12 assists in 64 appearances for the club, maintaining a consistent scoring record that has attracted interest from major teams such as Barcelona, Milan, and Juventus.
