Vanguard Prep School to open in Auckland in 2027

Associate Education Minister David Seymour has announced the opening of Vanguard Prep School on Auckland’s North Shore, scheduled for Term 1 of 2027. The school will cater to students in Years 7 to 10.

Utilizing a military ethos, the school will refer to its students as ‘recruits.’ The daily routine will include morning parades followed by academic instruction in literacy, numeracy, and core subjects. Afternoon sessions are designed to foster teamwork, leadership, and self-discipline through physical training and team challenges.

Students will be organized into small sections of approximately 20 individuals, each led by a dedicated teacher. The program aims to provide specialized learning environments with the same funding as state schools, offering greater flexibility alongside strict accountability standards.
