Hajduk Split sanctioned by UEFA following fan misconduct
UEFA has imposed significant sanctions on the Croatian football club Hajduk Split following incidents during their Conference League match against Ajax at Poljud Stadium. The club has been ordered to play its next home match against Sint-Truidense behind closed doors.
The disciplinary action follows the use of pyrotechnics by the Torcida fan group, which caused a 12-minute interruption in the match. Additionally, the club was fined €80,000 for the pyrotechnic use and a further €16,000 due to blocked passageways and non-compliant stairways. UEFA has also issued a suspended stadium closure should similar incidents recur.
Reports also noted that the fan group engaged in antisemitic and neo-Nazi chanting during the match and prior to the game. Hajduk Split has appealed to its supporters to refrain from any behavior that could cause further financial or reputational damage to the club.
