Vantara center rehabilitates three elephants from German circus
Three elephants previously used in a German circus have been relocated to the Vantara animal rescue and rehabilitation center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India. The animals, which spent decades traveling between cities and performing tricks, faced a significant transition to a life without performances or constant transport.
Upon arrival, caretakers noted that the elephants initially only responded to familiar commands in German. The relocation was facilitated through coordination between PETA Germany and PETA India to ensure the animals received professional care and permanent housing.
Founded by Anant Ambani, the Vantara center provides medical care, specialized clinics, and scientific laboratories for injured or mistreated wildlife. The facility focuses on the rehabilitation of animals and evaluates which individuals may eventually be able to return to the wild.
