Vanya Grigorova criticizes statehood breakdown in Petrohan case
Sofia municipal councilor Vanya Grigorova has criticized the handling of the Petrohan case, stating that the location has become a symbol of the breakdown of statehood where non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are replacing state institutions.
Grigorova raised questions regarding Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev’s connections to and financial support for individuals associated with Ivaylo Kalushev. She noted that an internal Ministry of Interior investigation previously identified contacts between Terziev and Border Police leadership regarding volunteers in the Petrohan area. Grigorova also expressed concern over the presence of children being raised by adults without parental ties for extended periods within the group.
Regarding the deaths near the Petrohan hut and Okolchitsa peak, recent expert findings from the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Interior indicate no evidence of external interference in the fatalities of the six individuals involved. Grigorova also defended criminal psychologist Rosen Yordanov, suggesting his controversial behavior toward the victims' relatives might stem from being deeply disturbed by the evidence reviewed during the six-month investigation.
