Varaždin court convicts teenager for assaulting mother

A 17-year-old from Varaždin County has been found guilty of physically assaulting his mother. The Municipal Court in Varaždin determined that the incident occurred on October 17 last year, when the teenager struck his mother in the face with a fist, causing swelling and bruising under her left eye.

The court noted the assault took place while the youth was under the influence of alcohol and within a family environment marked by long-term parental conflict. The teenager pleaded guilty and expressed regret, stating he has ceased alcohol consumption.

Rather than imposing immediate juvenile imprisonment, the court suspended the sentence. The imprisonment will only be enacted if he commits a new criminal offense within the next two years. He was also ordered to pay 300 euros in legal costs.
