Varaždinske barokne večeri festival features Belgian Baroque ensembles

The 56th Varaždinske barokne večeri festival continues its focus on the Belgian music scene with several high-profile performances across Croatia.

In Nedelišće, the ensemble Les Abbagliati and soprano Griet de Geyter performed a program dedicated to French Baroque music at the Church of the Holy Trinity. The concert featured works by composers such as Joseph Bodin de Boismortier and Jean-Philippe Rameau, including a performance on the musette by Marieke Van Ransbeeck.

Additionally, the Les Muffatti Brussels Baroque Orchestra, led by Anthony Romaniuk, performed in a Franciscan church. Their repertoire included works by Flemish composers Henri-Jacques de Croes and Pierre Van Maldere, alongside pieces by Johann Stamitz, Joseph Haydn, and Ignaz Vitzthum. The festival is set to continue with the Belgian ensemble RedHerring, featuring soprano Lore Binon, performing at Trakošćan Castle.
