Varanasi flooding sparks criticism from Congress leader Varun Chaudhary
Varun Chaudhary, Secretary of the All India Congress Committee and co-in-charge for Uttar Pradesh, has visited Varanasi to meet with local Congress councilors and leaders. During his visit, Chaudhary addressed issues of municipal corruption and the severe impact of monsoon flooding in the city.
Chaudhary criticized the current administration, noting that despite promises to transform Varanasi into a city like Kyoto, residents are facing knee-deep water during the monsoon season. He stated that the flooding is preventing children from attending school and causing vehicle damage. He emphasized that although the Member of Parliament, MLAs, and the Mayor are all from the BJP, the situation has not improved under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Regarding the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Chaudhary expressed confidence that a Congress-led coalition will form the government, asserting that the state's condition will only improve once the BJP government is replaced. Additionally, he called for the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar following recent political demands regarding his honors.
