Varanasi police arrest two suspects after midnight shootout

Varanasi police arrested two suspects following a midnight encounter with motorcycle-borne criminals on the Ring Road in the Lalpur Pandeypur police station area. During the confrontation, one suspect sustained a gunshot wound to the leg after firing at the police team.

According to Varuna Zone ADCP Lipi Nagayach, the incident occurred during a routine checkpoint. The suspects attempted to flee by breaking through barricades, leading to a pursuit and subsequent exchange of fire. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ved Prakash Dubey and an associate from Gorakhpur.

Both suspects reportedly confessed to involvement in a chain-snatching incident recorded on July 17. Authorities recovered two illegal pistols, ammunition, 75,000 rupees in cash, melted gold, and a motorcycle from the scene. Police are currently investigating the suspects' criminal records and searching for additional accomplices.
