Varanasi students develop AI solar-powered safety Rakhi for soldiers

In Varanasi, a group of female students led by junior scientist Shyam Chaurasia has developed a prototype for an ‘AI Solar Soldier Safety Rakhi.’ Designed to honor soldiers stationed at borders, the high-tech device integrates modern electronic and communication features into a traditional Raksha Bandhan thread.

The prototype includes a display, transmitter-receiver, Bluetooth, camera, microphone, and battery. A notable feature is its solar self-charging system, intended to provide power in remote border areas where electricity is limited. The device aims to enhance surveillance and communication capabilities for personnel.

While the project is currently a prototype, the creators have expressed interest in further development for military use. The team has reportedly contacted the Ministry of Defence via email to request the distribution of these rakhis to soldiers and is preparing to reach out to the Prime Minister’s parliamentary office.
